What is a Brand?
Notes -What comes to mind when you say the word brand? - Product? - Logo? - Style? - Stereotype? - quality?
In drake circus mall there are many cloth stores for example - Top Shop & H&M.
TopShop logo is very basic with a clean readable typeface. The shop is very clean witch is what I think is a part of they're image, the cloths are spaced out and it doesn't look crammed together and overflowing. The lighting can be overwhelming as it is very bright. I love the atmosphere in Topshop the music isn't too loud so you can't hear yourself think but enough to give the shop a good vibe.
Even Topshops website is clean not to overwhelming with information, The main colours being black white & pink, the text is a basic typeface but not boring. Clothing is easy to find as everything is categorised even tall petite and maternal are easy to find. The images of products used are clear and you know what your looking at even before reading the name of the item, rather then modelling them on a live modal posing with set of cloths on it gives you an image of just the item they are selling you e.g top. I have talked about the website as well as the shop because due to copy right laws I was unable to take images of the store it's self. H&M also has a basic logo but is in a slightly funky typeface almost as if some on has wrote it with a red highlighter. The shop clothing is set out on different levels the are rows of cloth on racks, shelves and then even tables with cloths displayed on them, Sometimes it can look a little overwhelming as there is just some much stuff crammed into ever corner of the store, this also makes it difficult to find what you are looking for. The lighting is soft this makes is look welcoming rather then in your face stand out bright.
A brand is a style or make of a type of product for example REPUBLIC is a shop and you incoperate it with - Soul Cal, Miso, Crafted G-star ext.. Brands within REPUBLIC but don't actually belong to the store itself. Even though REPUBLIC don't make its own cloths it is a brand because of the logo and recognition you have with the store, Personally if i go to buy cloths REPUBLIC would be my first chose because I know when I buy cloths from republic I will be purchasing a good quality, lasting product.
Coca-Cola Vz Pepsi Max
Website -
The Pepsi Max website is funky, the target audience is most probably teenagers and Pepsi Max features a comic about Pepsi Max and Deritoes and how these two people gain superpowers by eating and drinking the products.
Most of the Pepsi Max adds are funny and stick in your mind because there humerus and you could image you and your friends doing something smiler for example -
Coca Cola's Homepage to they're website has a sunset, balloons and people floating this is all linked with Coke's image of happiness
Sun means warmth, warmth makes people calm and happy.
Balloons mean party and parties bring people together, bring people together makes others happy.
The people flouting could be a part of the saying "I'm floating on air " meaning that your so happy it makes you feel light and not weighed down with your problems your walking on the air underneath you.
The website is packed full of information about the company and is always trying to maintain a good reputation, coca-cola's advertisements are normal about togetherness bring families and communist together and some how coca-cola is always in the middle of it or the cause of it. Coca-cola's website has information and video's about how to clean your teeth properly, this is because parents tell they're kids that fizzy drinks and coca-cola rots your teeth, this video is coca-cola trying to promote healthiness to shack the "fizzy drinks are bad for you image". It also gives information about the environment, giving the image that cola cola is green and Echo friendly, it gives information on it's greenest products yet.
Coca-cola gives fun fact about it's products more are about how big they're product is and how many friends they have on Facebook, this could show how coca-cola is trying to keep up with the latest fashion, most people in todays sociality has a Facebook page, it also shows you other brands they own such as Sprite, Fanta, Powerade 5Alive, Dr pepper, Oasis, Lilt, Relentless and basicly any other well known popular drink. I find the Coca-Cola adverts boring and predictable sometimes even cheesy but that's just my personal opinion. Not all of them have been boring to me though i found this advertisement on Youtube and it brought a smile to my face as it was real people benefiting from the company Coca cola-
Coca-cola Poster.
Coca-Cola T-shirt.
Lots of brands have started making tee-shirts to advertise they're brands. This is because the brand is so fashionable it has become cool to be seen in a Coke shirt, this means that drinking and buying the product is also cool and gives you a good image.
Advertising in the 1960's
Life in 1960’s America
was portrayed as Optimistic, America was Land of the plenty, life was look up
after the War, and middle class people had more money to spend and business men
took full advantage of this.
Advertising in the 1960's & Now.
Advertising
has changed greatly from the 1960's to now, how things are portrayed
for example of this is smoking in the 1960's they had TV ads telling people to
try their brand of cigarettes. Sponsors of products in those times wanted popular
TV characters to interact with their product cigarette manufacturers
again are a very good example of this
This is a black and white advert for Winston Cigarette from
around 1962 staring Beverly Hillbillies
This advertise states that this brand of cigarettes (Winston) are the best and they taste how a cigarette should making them more superior then other brands.
This advertise states that this brand of cigarettes (Winston) are the best and they taste how a cigarette should making them more superior then other brands.
In today's society smoking is considered wrong, Dirty & a filthy habit to have. Smoking has been proven bad for you and the only type of advertising you see about smoking in today life is anti-smoking ads as branding and putting cigarettes in a good light is not band in most places around the world.
This is a pretty resent anti-smoking advertisement comments on the YouTube video suggest it was pulled off air because it went too far,
